Promote with Leviathan NewsMetaMask is rolling out Multichain Accounts, a redesign of its wallet account model that lets users manage addresses and assets across multiple blockchains from a single, unified account view. Instead of handling separate accounts per network (for example, one for Ethereum and a different one for Solana), each MetaMask account will now bundle parallel addresses for supported chains under one “Multichain Account,” simplifying asset management, swaps, and cross-chain activity. Previously, MetaMask users had distinct accounts for EVM networks and for non‑EVM chains like Solana, which could not be viewed or managed together. With Multichain Accounts, MetaMask groups an EVM address and a Solana address into one account; if a user is missing a corresponding address on one side, MetaMask automatically creates it and pairs them. Balances and assets are now aggregated at the account level, giving users a single view of holdings across supported networks such as Ethereum, Linea, Arbitrum, Base, and Solana, with announced plans to extend the same model to Bitcoin, Tron, Monad and others. Hardware wallet accounts remain EVM‑only for now and are not grouped into Multichain Accounts. This change is underpinned by a re-architecture of MetaMask’s account system using a multichain key derivation approach (based on BIP‑44) so that one seed phrase can deterministically generate and maintain keys for multiple chains within the same logical account. For end users, the main impact is a simpler UI/UX: they no longer have to manually switch or mentally track different accounts per chain, and flows like sending, swapping, and bridging now prompt for the relevant network within the same account rather than requiring account changes. Multichain Accounts are becoming the default in new versions of the MetaMask extension and mobile app, and users can access them by updating to the latest release.
