Tether is preparing to issue USDT natively on Bitcoin through RGB v0.11.1, with UTEXO leading the rollout and Bitcoin Magazine citing a possible July 2026 launch. The setup would let compatible wallets move USDT between Bitcoin addresses and over Lightning with client-side validation, bringing the asset back to the chain where it first launched through Omni-Mastercoin in 2014. UTEXO co-founder Viktor Ihnatiuk says today’s USDT-to-BTC swaps can stack 1% wallet fees, 1% provider fees, and 1% slippage; UTEXO claims RGB/Lightning routing can price near Binance spot.
