Are circuit breakers the next step for DeFi?

Aave's risk council freezes markets routinely, Curve's kill method saved the pools during the 2023 Vyper exploit, and every major protocol ships some form of pause guardian. The unsolved piece is whether ERC-7265-style permissionless breakers can replace multisig guardians — the theoretical griefing vectors like tripping withdrawal caps to trap rivals in collapsing positions are exactly why the standard's still draft three years in.
