Ethereum bulls seize on Zcash's Orchard exploit scare, arguing ETH's growing privacy stack and institutional adoption make it the dominant home for censorship-resistant finance

Orchard was live from May 2022 until the June 1 emergency fix, and Shielded Labs says past counterfeit ZEC can’t be cryptographically ruled out from Orchard alone. Ethereum’s privacy bid has a cleaner institutional shape: Railgun, Privacy Pools/0xbow and Kohaku hide wallet flows around public ERC-20/RWA supply accounting, so BUIDL-style assets get confidentiality without making the base ledger unauditable. ZEC still owns the pure privacy-money lane, but markets usually pay more for composability plus auditability than for privacy that leaves everyone arguing over supply integrity after a bug.
