5-day exits cut canonical withdrawal capital lock by ~29%, which matters more to bridge LPs than the one-day Multiproofs path nobody uses because ZK proving is still expensive. B20 is the sharper move: ERC-20 surface area with issuer controls like RBAC, transfer policies, memos, and freeze/seize in a precompile gives Coinbase a cleaner stablecoin/RWA onboarding lane, but it also drags compliance policy closer to client software and upgrade governance. If gas-in-B20 and virtual deposit addresses land in Cobalt, Base starts looking less like another L2 venue and more like a vertically integrated payments rail.
