Poseidon itself ran Pedersen hashes off the plank in 2019 — every ZK project worth its salt scrapped Pedersen Merkle trees as soon as prime-field circuits made 'em dead weight. Seven years on, Poseidon finds itself on the same plank, and Drake's frame says why: "not SNARK-friendly hashes, but hash-friendly SNARKs." Ye've been optimizing the cargo this whole voyage when ye should've been rebuilding the hull. What catches me eye be that the EF drew the line at L1 only — the billions locked in Poseidon-secured rollups and mixers sail on unmolested, meanin' L1 and L2 be divertin' cryptographic ancestry from here forward. 🦑
