Bier said these “infofi” apps created “AI slop & reply spam,” and that cutting off access should reduce bot-driven posting once the incentives disappear. The move is significant because it targets a marketing model used by crypto-native social platforms and creator-reward products such as Kaito and Cookie, which had relied on incentive loops tied to X activity. Coverage after the announcement described the change as a blow to reward-for-posting schemes and a likely pivot point toward more traditional marketing channels, including agencies and direct creator deals, where quality of content and relationship-building matter more than volume. The broader context is X tightening control over its developer ecosystem and engagement monetization. Supporters of the policy frame it as an anti-spam measure, while critics see it as a major constraint on the emerging InfoFi category that monetized attention and posting behavior on X.46:T43e,X has revoked API access from apps that reward users for posting on the platform, a policy change announced by X head of product Nikita Bier. The product routes user USDC deposits from the Coinbase app into Morpho-powered lending vaults on Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer 2 network, where yields are generated from borrowing demand and boosted in the short term by Morpho’s incentive program. The feature marks a shift from Coinbase’s previous fixed USDC Rewards program (around 4.1–4.5% APY) to a market-driven DeFi yield model, while still presenting the experience through Coinbase’s familiar custodial interface. When users opt in, Coinbase creates a smart contract wallet that connects to the Morpho protocol via curated on-chain vaults managed by Steakhouse Financial, which allocate liquidity across multiple lending markets to optimize returns. Users can typically start earning immediately and withdraw as long as there is sufficient on-chain liquidity, but unlike USDC Rewards, their funds are now actively lent out in DeFi and the yield is variable over time. Morpho’s temporary subsidy raises the headline rate to make the new integration more attractive at launch, highlighting both the growing competition among DeFi lenders for liquidity and the way centralized exchanges are beginning to embed DeFi strategies directly into retail-facing products.48:T5e0,Coinbase has launched a new on‑chain USDC lending feature that advertises yields of up to 10.8% APY, but roughly half of that top-line return is currently being temporarily subsidized by DeFi lender Morpho as a marketing incentive, according to Decrypt’s reporting. In the conversation, Cassatt links the last crypto cycle’s extreme valuations to the era of zero‑interest‑rate policy (ZIRP), arguing that abundant, near‑free capital allowed many crypto projects to raise large sums and achieve high token valuations without demonstrating sustainable product–market fit or revenue. Once interest rates rose and capital costs normalized, she explains, projects that could not justify their valuations with real usage, fees, or cash flow have struggled, leading to a sharper focus from investors and teams on fundamentals and on-chain traction rather than purely speculative narratives. Cassatt also uses the interview to outline how teams should approach building and marketing in this new environment. She emphasizes that on‑chain experiments remain essential for innovation and for validating hypotheses about product design, token incentives, and community behavior, but argues they now need clearer economic logic and tighter feedback loops than in the ZIRP era. On scaling Web3 teams, she discusses structuring organizations to be lean but high-skill and values‑aligned, and choosing token launch strategies that reflect the project’s stage, regulatory constraints, and long‑term community goals, rather than solely short‑term price action. Cassatt also describes a “no‑makeup marketing” approach: transparent, substance‑first communications that foreground a project’s real technology, mission, and metrics instead of overproduced hype campaigns—positioning this as a better fit for a post‑ZIRP market where both users and investors scrutinize claims more closely. This interview matters as a commentary on how crypto builders and marketers are adapting from an era of cheap money and speculative exuberance to one where capital is more selective, regulators are more engaged, and credibility is harder to earn. Cassatt, who helped shape Ethereum’s early narrative and now advises multiple Web3 companies through Serotonin, frames this transition as an opportunity: teams that can combine disciplined token design, rigorous on‑chain experimentation, and authentic marketing may be better positioned to build durable protocols and brands than those that relied on financial conditions that are unlikely to return in the same form.4a:T9d2,The story centers on an interview with Amanda Cassatt, founder and CEO of Web3 marketing agency and product studio Serotonin and former chief marketing officer at ConsenSys, on the Bitcoin.com News Podcast. The filing says proceeds are intended primarily to support further Ethereum purchases and staking, while also funding corporate purposes such as working capital and marketing-related initiatives. The move fits into SharpLink’s broader shift toward an Ethereum treasury strategy that began in 2025, when the company started accumulating ETH and using capital markets to scale those holdings. By mid-2025, reporting indicated SharpLink had already accumulated hundreds of thousands of ETH and was staking most of it, making the enlarged offering a sign that the company planned to continue treating ETH as a core balance-sheet asset rather than a side investment. The story matters because it shows a public company using equity issuance to build a large crypto treasury at institutional scale, which can affect both SHAREHOLDER dilution and demand for ETH. It also highlights how Ethereum itself is increasingly being positioned as a corporate reserve asset, similar to earlier Bitcoin treasury strategies, but with staking yield added as part of the financial model.4c:T501,SharpLink Gaming expanded its at-the-market equity sales program from $1 billion to $6 billion through an amended sales agreement with A.G.P./Alliance Global Partners, according to an SEC prospectus supplement.
