UNDP and Stellar Development Foundation signed a new agreement on July 6 to make blockchain-based digital payments a regular tool for country offices, after 16 months of work across 17 countries and live pilots in Haiti, Syria, Kenya, Guatemala, and The Gambia. Aleppo's Cash for Work pilot cut estimated distribution costs from about 10% to about 2%, while Haiti's low-connectivity pilot processed payments with a 100% success rate during a cellular-network failure. The deal runs through 2027, with UNDP owning implementation and SDF providing technical advisory plus Stellar ecosystem coordination.
